Welcome to Wednesday

Morning

Ever buy something and then wonder why? I bought some card blanks which already had foiled greetings all across the bottom front and back of the card...... I've had them in the drawer for ages but thought it was time to think of a way to use them. Then a friend shared a project which used a hand made flower and I thought .. "I have a stamp virtually the same as this .. I really MUST use it more" and so - the card below was born!

My card
The inside of my card and the reverse of my envelope
The front and back of my card and front of my envelope
Materials used:

  • White 13cm square, 250gsm, card (with foiled greeting pre printed) and matching sized envelope
  • One piece of white card 12½cm square, for insert
  • Sunshine Designs image stamped using Versafine Imperial purple ink
  • Hero Arts sentiment (thank you) stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Stardust stickles to accent the image

And now, since it IS Wednesday, here's a sneaky peek at my desk

My messy workspace today!

It's Sunday - did you change your clocks????

Morning all,

I hope you all remembered to change your clocks to British Summer Time, we have two clocks which change themselves and will go round and ensure all of the others are changed, as the day wears on. Forgot one year - puts you out the whole day, doesn't it? Could have done with that hour in bed this morning though as the surrogates came to dinner last evening .... they brought presents, balloons and cake!!! We had a fab evening - thanks for coming peeps.

Got a Christmas project to share with you this morning ....

One of my tags

  • I stamped a "TO" and a "FROM" on the reverse by, I think, Funstamps

It's Saturday, Rudolph Day and I have a couple of challenge makes to share ...

Hello readers and followers,

Having a domesticated 24 hours with housework (YUCK .. I  hear it won't kill you but ... I don't normally take the risk!) and cooking!!!! Well, actually, just making soup and I don't count that as cooking as I just bung it all in one pan with some stock and herbs and let it wurgle away - when it's done I hit it with the stick blender and serve! Easy peasy, lemon squezy!

It is my turn to present the Rudolph Day challenge over on Craftbubble2½ and I have chosen the theme of CANDY CANES for this.

My card
And a closer view of the image panel
The front and back of my card and the front of my envelope
The inside of my card and reverse of my envelope
Materials used:
  • White C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 14.3 x 10 cm and 13.8 x 9.5cm
  • One piece of navy card cut to 14.3 x 10cm
  • Snippets of card in white and navy
  • Recollections candy cane image stamped on to white snippet using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Crayola pencils used to colour: red orange, red, maroon, mahogany, yellow, golden yellowlight orange, mango, yellow orange, orange, tan, cool grey
  • I then applied stardust stickles and set aside to dry
  • Plaid dimensional gloss to cover the entire candy cane (inc the stickles) and allowed to fully dry before fussy cutting out the candy cane
  • Snippet of white card and a Tim Holtz Christmas stencil through which I applied Distress Ink in tumbled glass.
  • Once I removed the stencil I used the remaining colour on the blending too to just take the edge off the harsh whiteness of the card and then stamped the Paper Artsy "Happy Christmas" sentiment using Ranger Archival jet black ink, centrally across the bottom of the stencilled panel before attaching my now cut out candy cane using Tombow glue
  • I used narrow navy satin ribbon across the centre of the smaller of the two white card panels before matting on to the navy card
  • Tsukineko gelly roll white gel pen used to doodle a dotty border around the image panel
  • For the insert and envelope I used the same candy cane image and sentiment along with an additional Paper Artsy sentiment

Nearly the weekend!

Morning all,

Hope you've had a good week. It's been a funny one at the Purple Palace .. having attended Craftathon at the weekend there was the mammoth chore of restoring order and returning everything taken to Craftathon back to it's former home - not an easy task!! I haven't even had the chance to think about finishing off my projects yet though I WILL! A pal joined us for dinner on Wednesday so there was the task of clearing the dining room to add in to the mix. You can tell I've been playing catch up as I only had the chance to enter the LIM challenge yesterday!!

However, aside from the surrogates due to join us for dinner on Saturday evening I have nothing at all planned for this weekend - luxury!

Still, I can USUALLY find a small window of opportunity to craft and this card started life a little after 07:00 yesterday since hubby had set his alarm for stupid o'clock and had to be out of the house by 08:00 .... quite a rarity for either of us these days!

Recently acquired the Creative Expressions clear stamp set called Snowflake Kisses - LOVE IT! Have used 6 of the 10 images already, making it one of my better purchase as there are no images that I will NOT use, it's just a case of getting round to it. Expect to see more of this set ...
