Wednesday, 28 September 2011

Hi there readers

Hi folks,

Wednesday again and no craft table to share this week - I'm somewhere off the coast of the north eastern U.S. and, hopefully, having a ball with friends, Mary and Barry.

Here's a photo I took shortly before we left, it's about three miles from "home"!

My internet access is sporadic at best so please bear with me and check back periodically - missing you all!

Tuesday, 27 September 2011

Hi there readers

How's your day going?

Mine's going great guns but with an early start (don't ask!).

I'd like to share an ATC with you ...... I have been sooooo taken with the post it method (thanks to Joanne Wardle for sharing this in an issue of Craft Stamper in 2010) AND now my new fave colour combo of distress inks of wild honey, dusty concord and barn door.

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • post it's to mask
  • Distress inks (colours as listed above)
  • Inkadinkado image inked in Memories jet black ink
  • Platinum stickles to highlight
So, tell me ...... do you think it NEEDS a sentiment?

On a recent drive we took some photos - I never cease to be amazed at how this moss looks on trees - spooktacular!!!

Anyway, Happy Tuesday everyone

Monday, 26 September 2011

Hi there, Monday morning and all's well!

Well it's Monday  here anyway,

To those lovely readers in the U.K. it's early afternoon - hope you're having a good day.

Last evening saw us picking up Wynneth and Tom and heading for the Orlando Ale House on the 192. As soon as we got out of the car we thought we might have made a mistake ...... the outside seating area had TV's blaring. We went on inside and found it to be much the same and the staff were all dressed in their fave teams colours too - note to self, never again on game night!!!! We trooped back to the car to think of plan B!, which turned out to be the Outback steakhouse a mile or so down the road - good call as we had a great meal. Our server, Matthew, took a photo of us all but it's just a smidge dark

Dessert was a "Chocolate Thunder from Down Under"!! and four (yes FOUR) spoons!!
Then it was back to the place Wynneth and Tom are currently calling home where we chatted further over drinkies till it was well past dark and our blinks were getting longer and we headed home. Check out the lovely view they have from their place ..........

I've put these photographs in to a slide show but (STUPIDLY) didn't realise that I hadn't changed the album it was going in to ..... so, they're in with my cards. When I've the time and inclination I'll change them and re-install the links (which will break when I move them to the correct album) - DOH!!!

Enjoy the rest of your day - catch y'all tomorrow.

Hi there and welcome to Sunday

Hi there,

Last night we were out to dinner with our neighbours, Sally and Roger, and went to a Mexican restaurant in Kissimmee (Garibaldi's). We were joined by Sally's daughter, Bonnie, which was real nice and a good time was had by all though the storm started whilst we were in the restaurant!! Bonnie, bless her, volunteered to go get the car so I didn't drown on my slow way to the car!! It was back to Sally and Roger's for another drink and a chat before heading home to watch Doctor Who on BBC America! Did anyone else watch last night's episode? I'm not normally a big fan of James Corden but he was great in this episode.

I'm a little late with my post today as we got up this morning to find ...... NO INTERNET or TV service!!! Blimey, must've been one heck of a storm last night - kind of a shame we slept through it!! DUH!
Yesterday, I made a card for the Craft Mad and Loving It and Simply Less is More challenge .... a nice enough design to a fab sketch from Chrissie and Mandi but it just wasn't quite right. After a couple of people quite rightly pointed out the error of my ways I decided to have another go at this card ....... better?

  • Materials used:
  • White C5 card and matching envelope
  • Hero Arts Image inked in Memories jet black ink
  • Hero Arts star image inked using Marvy le plume II marker
  • Hero Arts sentiment inked in Brilliance mediterranean blue
  • Crystal stickles to highlight
Happy Sunday everyone - how's the weather with you? I hear tell that the U.K. is experiencing an Indian Summer and hope you are all making the most of it.

3rd post - challenge entry! ..... just a quickie, honest!!

If you've missed either of my first posts and have the time then please do feel free to scroll down and see what I've been up to .......

This is just a quickie as I couldn't resist having another go at the Sketch challenge set over on the Simply Less Is More blog this morning. In case you haven't seen the sketch, I've included that below my card .... hope you like it.

Materials used:
  • White C5 card and envelope
  • TPC Studio image and sentiment inked in Memories archival black
  • Post its to mask
  • Distress Inks: wild honey, dusty concord and barn door (knew it wouldn't be long before I used that colour combo again!)
  • Platinum stickles to highlight the acorns

Right, as you were, you can carry on with your day now ...... thanks for stopping by my blog, again! Hope to see again soon.

2nd post of the day, challenge entry, please scroll down to read my earlier post

Hi there, guess what? Me again!

Been crafting - working on the Craft mad and Loving It challenge and the Simply Less Is More challenge and, yes, I managed to combine them - though I did feel I had to move the sentiment around on the page a little - I think it works and hope Chrissie and Mandi will forgive me too! Hope you like it. Chrissie passed comment about my tree being a bit too near the top and I think perhaps she's right - that would maybe have balanced the card and made the sentiment look better placed toward the bottom - ah, the benefit of hindsight!!!!

Materials used:
  • White C5 card and envelope
  • Hero Arts Tree image inked in Memories archival black
  • Hero Arts star image inked using Marvy le Plume II yello marker
  • Hero Arts sentiment inked in Brilliance mediterranean blue
  • Marvy le Plume II red marker to colour tree stand
  • Crystal stickles to highlight

Also thought I'd post the ATC I made yesterday whilst crafting with Wynneth and hope you'll like that too.

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Post its to mask
  • Distress Inks: wild honey, dusty concord, barn door - I am LOVING the effect the dusty concord gave the colour combo and must remember to use it again some time ..... SOOOOOON!
  • Penny Black image and Hero Arts sentiment inked in Memento tuxedo black (which I then threw away - it's done, finished, juiced out!!!)
  • Platinum stickles to highlight

Have a fab Saturday

Hello readers, welcome to the weekend

Hi there,

A little light crafting yesterday resulted in a quick steampunk ATC ......

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • White panel to cover ATC blank, spritzed with Tanzanite mica spray
  • White satin ribbon (from Michaels)
  • Coral panel previously die cut in to scalloped rectangle and embossed but which I ran a Brilliance galaxy gold pad over to highlight the embossing
  • Hampton Arts steampunk image inked in Memento tuxedo black (which looks like it's finally drying out!)
  • Copic skin white to colour

Last night's dinner was at the Santa Fe Steakhouse not a million miles away from us on the 27 north a few miles. We had a fab meal and very tender steaks - great drink deals too. Our last night out together though as we're packing up and moving on early next week ....

Of course, once we left there and headed for home Wynneth felt the irresistible urge to head to Michaels so we dropped the guys off and headed south ........ I bought NOTHING you'll be stunned to hear! I know Steve was!!. There was a little more light crafting but more of that in my next post which will probably also feature my challenge make/s

This morning we were wakened by "whooshing" which turned out to be half a dozen balloons "sailing" majestically overhead - never could resist a balloon photo!

Saturday morning sees the unveiling of a couple of challenges ...... over on Craft Mad and Loving It there's a theme this week instead of a sketch and the theme is "Christmas Tree/s" and it has been set by Karen

Over on the Simply Less Is More blog the new challenge unveiled this morning is a sketch

Happy Saturday and have a great weekend all - do pop back later and see how my challenge make/s turned out.

2nd post of the day, challenge entry, please scroll down to read my earlier post

Hi folks,

No idea what's been going on with craftbubble the last two days but I've been able to log in this morning for the first time - YAY. With it being Friday I was horribly afraid it was likely to be off-line till Monday! CRIKEY! AND THEY'VE FIXED THE LONG STANDING ISSUE WITH THE PHOTO INSERTION SOFTWARE too - HURRAH.

Anyhoo, why am I back with a second post? Well, there's a new challenge launched today over on the Bah Humbug blog and this week the challenge is "Rudolph / Reindeer" and, naturally, I wanted to have a go ..... Rosie also re-launched the Christmas recipe challenge on Craft Mad and Loving It on Wednesday and her theme is "ChristMOUSE pie" ..... sadly, no mice images here so I've asked everyone to pretend that Rudolph looks like a mouse!! a bit of a stretch I know but I did want to support her challenge so I'm hoping she'll forgive me! Sadly, I've not been able to upload it to Bah Humbug as I appear to be experiencing technical difficulties whilst posting - anyone else got the same problem with blogger? And yet I was able to simply copy and paste my blog address link in to post so perhaps I've done something wrong with the link .... so we shall see.

Materials used:
  • White C5 card and envelope
  • DCWV Christmas paper stack
  • White Bristol board panels
  • Sparkle 'n Sprinkle Rudolph image inked in Memento tuxedo black on to one BB panel and corners rounded
  • Glossy accents added to Rudolphs nose and to the baubles hanging from his antlers
  • DCWV textured self adhesive red paper panel with corners rounded
  • On the larger BB panel I rounded the corners and then inked the Recollections sentiment and holly border using Memento tuxedo black and Marvy le Plume II marker pens (huffing where necessary before stamping)
  • Crystal and platinum stickles to highlight
  • Narrow red satin ribbon tied round the check DCWV panel in to a bow
  • Two faux crstal gemstones to finish
Also decided to make another ATC as I always have a fair few to send out when I get home and won't actually have very long to send them out in!

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Michaels ink dots in green
  • Studiog image and Inkadinkado sentiment inked in Memento tuxedo black
  • Martha Stewart glue pen and crystal glamour dust

Have a fab weekend folks.

Hello and welcome to Friday

Wotcher peeps

One of the fab stamps Wynneth bought at our return to Violettes was this stupendous Penny Black chicken stamp - had to be done!! She was kind enough to allow me to stamp a couple of images before she took it away forever!!!

Materials used:
  • White C5 card and envelope
  • Penny Black image inked in Memento tuxedo black on to white card and edged with marvy alcohol marker in dark blue
  • Marvy alcohol markers to colour
  • Walmart "pound of paper" blue panel
  • Corner rounder
  • DCWV glitter stack strip
  • White card strip coloured with Brilliance light blue before inking my Hero arts flourish in Michaels ink dots green
  • Sakura gelly roll clear glitter pen used to highlight the chooks knitting needles!
  • Recollections faux blue pearls
Next comes an Autumn Blessings ATC which I decided to make, a pretty quick ATC but surprisingly pleasing - to me anyway.

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Distress Ink - barn door, applied with a Tim Holtz blending tool
  • Inkadinkado flourish (left and right) inked with brilliance crimson copper
  • TPC Studio sentiment and autumn image inked in Memento tuxedo black
  • Crystal stickles to highlight
I looked out of the window this afternoon and was astonished to see the dark storm clouds gathering.

We've had our home here for 17 years so I made hubby a little anniversary card ..... to celebrate we opened a piquant little bottle of wine! Because Wynneth and I have been entrenched with penguins this week once we saw this bottle it just "had to be done"

I was a little stumped as to an image but he came him having fought against spiders  all morning so this Halloween image with it's cobwebs suddenly seemed perfect! I'm wondering whether it will be considered CAS enough for Chrissie and Mandi over at Simply Less Is More for their 1000+ challenge this week. They're up around 600 so still a little way to go today .... come on everyone - give them a helping hand!

Materials used:
  • C5 white card and envelope
  • Black card panel
  • 3.25" x 5" white card panel given the Martha Stewart PATP set treatment
  • Recollections house image inked in Memento tuxedo black on to white card and cut out.
  • Inkadinkado "celebrate" sentiment inked in Memento tuxedo black
  • Faber Castell Pitt artist pen used to had write the "17 years"
  • Michaels black and white check ribbon
  • Three black faux gemstones to finish
He loved it by the way. All of these images can be viewed in my slide show on my blog page, it shows the last 100 images and updates regularly.

And now for the Friday Funny which, this week comes from Pat Gilson (thanks Pat) and you will instantly see why I picked this one ...... it came to me by e-mail and was entitled

IDENTITY THEFT - it's catching on

Have a fab day

Morning and welcome to a rather SUNNY Thursday

Hi there,

Yesterday, hubby dropped me off at Wynneth and Tom's and, collecting Tom, headed off to do some chores whilst Wynneth and I took their car and headed off to Lakeland for the day. Our first port of call was Violettes where Wynneth shopped for England (that's my girl).

Then it was to the Lakeland Mall where I bought a dress and shrug for next week's cruise.

Onwards and northwards to Michaels and then Joann's. By this point my craft shopping gene kicked in and I made my first craft spend of the day in Joann's ...... $4 on four of their dollar stamps!! Yee Haa!

And then it was off to Applebees for dinner and two for one drinkies!!! Cheers!

Having had the Silver Streak (aka Wynneth) "in da house" so to speak, has encouraged me to get inky a lot more this last day or so and I thought I would love to share some of my creations with you, using stamps old and new. The first piece, an ATC, uses one of my newest images - acquired just days ago on the foray to Sparkle n' Sprinkle .......

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Sparkle 'n Sprinkle image inked in Memento tuxedo black
  • Marvy alcohol pens to colour
  • Martha Stewart glue pen and glamour dust
  • Faber Castell Pitt artist pen to write sentiment
  • Distress Inks in Barn Door and Fired Brick
And this card below was inspired by Wynneth's play session with the same set which made me realise just how adorable this bear is and ink him up myself ..... for the first time but (surely) not the last! I've also added him as my fifth and probably final entry for the LIM 1000+ challenge.

Materials used:
  • C6 cream card and matching envelope
  • Panel of blue card edged with an EK success punch
  • White Bristol board panel edged with Brilliance mediterranean blue ink
  • Recollections bear image inked in Memento tuxedo black
  • Inkadinkado sentiment inked in Brilliance Mediterranean Blue
  • Marvy le plume II pens to add a little colour to the bear and to create the illusion of ice
  • Crystal stickles
And another ATC - again using that sweet bear ...

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Recollections bear and snowflake images inked in Memento tuxedo black and Brilliance lavender
  • Inkadinkado sentiment inked in Brilliance Mediterranean Blue
  • Marvy le plume II pens to create the illusion of ice
  • Crystal stickles to highlight

Have a fabulous day everyone
