Morning all,
Of course, being Friday there is also the Friday Funny but we'll get to that in a minute! In the meantime, it's a craft heavy/photo heavy post so .... pull up a chair!
It's Rudolph Day (the 25th of each month) and I know of two challenges intended to help us crazy crafters keep up with the making of our Christmas cards - thus ensuring a less stressful Christmas - because we're not up till midnight making cards!! Can I just point out that there are only FOUR RUDOLPH DAYS left before Christmas so, if you've not started making your Christmas cards .... you're gonna be playing catch up so why not get started with one of the challenges below ....
Over at Craftbubble2½'s group, Craft Mad and Loving It, it's my turn to prepare and present the challenge and I've gone with:-
"Trees AND non traditional colours"
Being the Purple Princess I find myself wondering if any of my astute readers would care to make a guess as to which colour I've gone with? A toughie, I know but .....
 |
Just HAD to be purple now .... didn't it?!?!?! |
Materials used:
C5 white, 300gsm, plain card blank and matching sized envelope
Purple sparkly card
Purple plaid card and sentiment strip (both by Kanban, part of a QVC kit I've had, like, FOREVER!)
Purple hand made glitter paper - for matting my sentiment layer
Inkylicious Christmas tree stamped on to white card using a Versamark embossing ink and WOW Purple sparkle embossing powder
Heat gun - for embossing
Inkylicious sentiment stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
Glitter and vellum paper snowflakes
Iridescent snowflakes (from Michaels)
Faux crystal gemstones
Cosmic Shimmer acrylic glue - my current fave adhesive!
I'm also going to be entering the above card over JingleBelles where the challenge is to be inspired by their header; and also at Addicted to Stamps and More where they've a photo inspiration which almost looks like it was designed for ME!!!!.
 |
I see everything in terms of PURPLENESS!!!! |
Sarn over at Stamping for Pleasure has set a challenge for the entire year, which is to submit TWO entries in one post - thus ensuring that all those participating will have at least 22 made come November - thanks for keeping us all going there matey! In order to make this post eligible ... here comes the second card ..... using new stash acquired from my recent trip to Hobbycraft, with Jan. Strangely enough, Jan and I even talked about this almost EXACT design of card, so I'm hoping she will agree that it was a great used of this new sentiment!
 |
Wouldn't this make a great "batch" card? |
Materials used:
- 15cm square white, 300 gsm, scalloped card blank and matching sized envelope
- 13½cm square white card panel
- Blue card matted using the 1/16" perfect layering ruler and a craft knife
- DoCrafts sentiment stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
- Inkadinkado large snowflake stamped using Memento Bahama blue ink .... I lined the giant snowflake up with the bottom of the sentiment star
- Stardust stickles to highlight and just plain add some twinkle!
I'm also going to be entering the above card over at Crafting for all seasons where their current challenge is: CHRISTMAS IN JULY and also for the CHRISTMAS IN JULY challenge at Creative Knockouts. It also rocks the photo inspiration challenge over at Festive Friday, where the photo makes me think of the cold weather - snowflakes - being indoors warm and cosy in front of that fire!
 |
Now isn't this cosy and festive? |
I've also been working on week two of Clare's FREE on-line workshop entitled "ME TIME MESSAGES", and here's how it shaped up this week, starting on Tuesday ......
 |
Pick another word from your six and journal about it before sealing it inside a coloured envelope
I went with Kraft - well, it IS a colour! |
 |
Start to decorate the envelope with paint |
 |
Then add card and doodles - FRONT |
 |
With card and doodles added - BACK, yes, bet you've spotted my deliberate error! |
 |
Finished FRONT - deliberately soft focus! |
 |
Finished BACK - deliberately soft focus!
Voila! Just in time for the release of week three's project - Yee Haa! |
Materials used:
- Kraft envelope
- Offcut of white card almost envelope size - for journaling using a felt pen
- Kaisercraft gold and "Pound store" acrylic red, mixed with a credit card before using said card to apply "lines" of paint to both front and back of my envelope
- Costco papers cut in to strips and attached pretty randomly
- More paint - this time Kaisercraft gold mixed with pound shop violet (had to be done!)
- Doodles drawn using a Pentel white paint pen and a Faber Castell pitt pen ("F" thickness)
- Photos and journaling printed from my laser printer and cut out, adhered with Cosmic Shimmer acrylic glue

It's my nephew's birthday today so, Happy Birthday, Jason - have a good day mate - card's in the post!
Hubby took me out to lunch yesterday, we nipped across the severn crossing, almost as far as Pontypridd and found Dandiecrafts where I shopped (just a little) before heading here for our lunch where we enjoyed their specials menu - we really OUGHT to do that more often. Want to see what I bought?
And now for the Friday Funny, this week it's winging its way to you courtesy of my friends Mary and Barry. It's entitled Holy Humour and is a little irreverent - if this is likely to offend you then please don't read on - otherwise ... ENJOY
HOLY
HUMOUR
=======
There was a very gracious Lady who was mailing an old family Bible to her
brother in another part of the country.
"Is there anything breakable in here?" asked the Postal Clerk.
"Only the Ten Commandments." answered the Lady.
========
"Somebody has said there are only two kinds of people in the world. There
are those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good morning, Lord,"
and there are those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good Lord, it's
morning."

A Minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was
short of time and couldn't find a space with a meter.
Then he put a note under the windshield wiper that read: "I have circled
the block 10 times. If I don't park here, I'll miss my appointment. Forgive us
our trespasses."
When he returned, he found a citation from a Police Officer along with this
note "I've circled this block for 10 years. If I don't give you a ticket
I'll lose my job. Lead us not into temptation."
========
There is the story of a Pastor who got up one Sunday and announced to his
Congregation: "I have good news and bad news. The good news is, we have
enough money to pay for our new building program. The bad news is, it's still
out there in your pockets."
========
While driving in Pennsylvania , a family caught up to an Amish carriage. The
owner of the carriage obviously had a sense of humor, because attached to the
back of the carriage was a hand printed sign... "Energy efficient vehicle:
Runs on oats and grass. Caution: Do not step in exhaust."
========
A Sunday School Teacher began her lesson with a question, "Boys and girls,
what do we know about God?"
A hand shot up in the air. "He is an Artist!" said the kindergarten
boy.
"Really? How do you know?" the teacher asked.
"You know - Our Father, who does Art in Heaven... "

A Minister waited in line to have his car filled with gas just before a long
holiday weekend. The Attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars ahead
of him. Finally, the Attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump.
"Reverend," said the young man, "I'm so sorry about the delay.
It seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to get ready for a long
trip."
The Minister chuckled, "I know what you mean. It's the same in my
business."
========
People want the front of the bus, the back of the church, and the centre of
attention.
========
Sunday after church, a Mum asked her very young daughter what the lesson was
about.
The daughter answered, "Don't be scared, you'll get your quilt."
Needless to say, the Mum was perplexed. Later in the day, the Pastor stopped by
for tea and the Mum asked him what that morning's lesson was about.
He said "Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming."
========
The Minister was preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to ask the
congregation to come up with more money than they were expecting for repairs to
the church building. Therefore, he was annoyed to find that the regular
Organist was sick and a substitute had been brought in at the last minute..The
substitute wanted to know what to play.
"Here's a copy of the service," he said impatiently. "But,
you'll have to think of something to play after I make the announcement about
the finances."
During the service, the Minister paused and said, "Brothers and Sisters,
we are in great difficulty; the roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected
and we need £4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge £100 or more, please stand
up."
At that moment, the substitute Organist played "God save the Queen"
And that is how the substitute became the regular organist!
Tee Hee!
Have a fabulous Friday and a great weekend, see you tomorrow for some challenge makes
