Happy Monday - it's an extra day off for many of us in the U.K.

Morning all,

Hope you have some plans (as well as the weather to match) for your extra day off ...... of course, if you are retired (like us) then every day is a day off!

Yesterday was nice (though not the weather!) as we nipped round to meet up with the surrogates (at real mum's) with the intention of making our Secret Santa draw ..... too early, do I hear you cry???? Well, they're a busy bunch of people and with work, holiday and family commitments this was the only date we could all guarantee - this side of November!!! Blimey, how did that happen? Still, it was a great chance to catch up with them all, with food, drink and chat thrown in. Draw safely concluded and no-one appears to have drawn either themselves or their partner - in itself a bit of a first!!! Can't tell you who the hubster or I got .... just in case one of them checks out my blog ... it COULD happen! Anyhoo, suffice it to say I have an idea for my own S.S. and hubs has an idea for his too - you could definitely call THAT a result! It's going to have to stay a secret until Boxing Day though, the day we normally exchange our gifts .... let the shopping commence!

Domesticity threatened to ruin the weekend, with the washing machine starting last week making a fearful racket!!! It had always been a tad noisy but this was ridiculous. We contacted the people with whom we have an extended warranty policy and arranged that a "man" should come out on Saturday. Said "man" arrived in a timely fashion and both diagnosed and fixed the fault in a professional manner and our washer? It's now whisper quiet but working overtime ... to catch up with the backlog!!! And then, don't get me started, there's  (cue dramatic music) ...... THE IRONING!

A little light crafting to share with you today .....

My card
A close up of the shimmer

  • White 5" x 7" card blank (300gsm) and matching sized envelope

  • Memory box circle stencil (placed on top of the grid stencil) through which I sprayed Dylusions white ink

And now for the last of our tour around Bristol on the trail of Shaun the Sheep .... on the Shaun in the City tour

The Fleece Air Arm!!!! , located by the Arnofini

This one was for my hubby!

Rather interestingly titled ..... green poems for a blue planet (????) and
located at the harbourside

This has to be one of my favourite names .... Shaun bean!

And an added bonus of this tall ship turning in the harbour

Beach boy, though I think they missed a trick by not calling him Beach BUOY!

The front of Beach Boy

Baa-Wolf! located right outside the Bristol Hippodrome

Isn't he cute?

And we got off the bus and walked home past this tranquil site, less than ½ mile from  home

Hope you've enjoyed them, I have to say that my feet were sore when I got home! We notched up SIXTEEN in five hours which also included spending about 2½ of those on three buses! We also managed to have a very pleasant pit stop at a small cafe where we enjoyed our bacon and cheese toastie and a speciality coffee - what a pleasant way to while away a day. We'll be sorry to see the Shaun's removed from public display today ..... they will all be on view in one location for a short time before heading to market (sorry, auction) in October - the proceeds will be going to charity. Already looking forward to 2017 and wondering what will be next ..... we had gorilla's first and then, in 2013, we had Gromits ... this year Shaun's so ....... in 2017? Who knows?

Welcome to challenge day aka SATURDAY!

Hi there readers,

How's your Saturday coming along?

I check my computer at 08:00 to see what the challenge is over at Simply Less Is More .... and then wind the wick up on the stereo whilst listening to Sounds of the Sixties (what does this tell you about my age?) ...... and then the crafting commences! Some weeks are quicker than others and I have even been FIRST to post my make but only a couple of times!

And, readers of my blog will know that I took delivery recently, of the Stampers Anonymous Crazy Things, to go with my Crazy Birds ..... what fun they are? Well, I ALMOST never fail to flog an idea to death so .... here's another ATC with the fabbyliscious birds and their accessories ..

My card
And a close up which show the tie better too!

And the insert and envelope - I NORMALLY stamp my image
on the envelope but figured it wouldn't show against the navy

Materials used:

  • Navy DLcard and matching envelope
  • Snippet of deep red card for image panel
  • Dylusions spray - white
  • Snippet of white card on to which I stamped the Stampers Anonymous crazy bird
  • Snippet of light blue card and red card on to which I stamped the Stampers Anonymous crazy things hat and tie
  • Alcohol markers to colour, once coloured, the items were fussy cut out
  • For the insert and envelope I stamped the Creative Expressions sentiment using Ranger Archival jet black ink and then highlighted the insert text using a black gel glitter pen ... at this stage I also stamped the image on the insert using Memento Paris Dusk ink

I'll be entering this for the following challenges:-
  1. Simply Less Is More - challenge No. 239 - LUCKY DIP week .....
  2. Bloggers challenge - August 28th - COME FLY WITH ME
  3. Creative Fingers - challenge No. 90 - ALWAYS ANYTHING GOES
  4. Addicted to CAS - challenge No. 71 - BLUE ..... whilst my backing panel is RED, my card blank and image colour is definitely blue!

And, in the interest of flogging an idea to death, here's another Crazy bird/Crazy things make .....

My ATC
And a closer view of his dickie bow!
Materials used:
  • Ribbed Kraft ATC blank
  • Snippet of black card and stripey patterned paper
  • Snippet of white card on to which I stamped the "Bella Lugosi" crazy bird and his top hat using Memento tuxedo black ink, I also stamped just the lower portion of "Bella" on to my striped paper ... to save me the effort of fussy cutting around those skinny legs!
  • Snippet of red card on to which I stamped the Crazy Things dickie bow using Ranger Archival sepia ink
  • Once dry I used a Versamark pen and clear embossing powder to double heat emboss and give his dickie bow a high shine
  • Pro Markers to colour the image and hat
  • Signo Uniball white gel pen to add some highlights and to "ground" my bird
  • Black "F" thickness Pitt Pen to doodle a border on the Kraft ATC blank

I'll be entering this ATC for the following challenges:-
  1. Crafts Galore - ANYTHING GOES IN AUGUST
  2. Creative Ladybird - challenge No. 6 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Come Colour with That Craft Place - August challenge - ANYTHING GOES

Yesterday saw the hubby and myself up and at 'em good and early, and on the bus too!!! We were off on the Shaun in the City trail again ... not familiar? Check out the site here, pull up a chair, grab a coffee and enjoy sightseeing with us .... we narrowly avoided getting drenched because we were on a bus at the worst of it. We HAD planned to get off and trundle around looking for more but ...... felt less inclined for the drenching so stayed put! We have until August 31st to catch any more, after that, they will be removed from public display and will, ultimately, be auctioned in October and the money donated to charity. Anyway, here are some ..... we spotted 16 today so they'll be launched over a couple of days ......

This one's in Cabot Circus, the centre's mall complex
and he's called Bagpuss Shaun

Side view, not sure of the story behind the frog, perhaps someone can enlighten me

Lily Bluefin, sighted at the bottom of Castle Green

Please Stand By (test card), located in Broadmead

Shaun on the cob!, located outside (and sponsored by ) M&S
Wish I'd been able to get a side view but there were just
too many people all jostling for photographs

Cecilia, a quilted Shaun! Located within the Galleries, another shopping complex

KnitWit Shaun, located on Castle Green

The ruined Church that is the focal point of Castle Green

Woolly Wonderland, located inside the Corn Exchange building
again, the queues prevented a second shot at this one ....
love the added bonus of the bi-plane behind!

Honey Shaun, located by St Stephen's Church

Hope you will all have a fab, and creative, weekend

Welcome to the start of the weekend and the Friday Funny

Morning peeps,

Made it to Friday and I hope you all have something pleasing planned for this Public Holiday weekend. Us? Well, we DO have a man coming to look at our super noisy washing machine tomorrow - no idea what time though, at this moment. They will, allegedly, ring us in the morning, once they have an idea of the schedule .... wish us luck with that!

And now, because a day without crafting seems so unusual these days .... AND I took delivery of the Stampers Anonymous "Crazy things" accessory set to go with those fabulous crazy birds ....

My ATC

And a closer view of the sparkle!

Materials used:

  • Snippet of red card as an ATC blank
  • Snippet of white card for my background
  • Snippet of white card on to which I stamped the Stampers Anonymous crazy bird and crazy thing (Santa hat) using Memento tuxedo black ink and the crazy thing (cane) using Adirondack red pepper ink
  • Pro Markers to colour and then I fussy cut out the bird, the hat and the candy cane
  • On the snippet of background card I stamped the crazy bird once more, using Memento tuxedo black and then applied Distress Inks in Victoria velvet and salty ocean - giving the lovely sort of purpley grey colour
  • Using an egg shaped sponge and the Memory Box circles stencil I applied more of the salty ocean ink through - to simulate snowfall which I then highlighted with crystal stickles, also "grounding" my crazy Santa bird
  • I used dimensional foam to attach the hat and then added more crystal stickles to highlight the "fur"

I'll be entering this make for the following challenges:-
  1. ABC of Christmas - Q IS FOR QUANTUM LEAP (previous challenge) - I went with N=NOT a card!
  2. I Love Pro Markers - challenge No. 283 - ANYTHING GOES

Halloween CRAZY!

Materials used:

  • Snippets of: black card (ATC blank), black spotty card, yellow card (die cut in to circle) and white card .... to stamp my images on to
  • Stampers Anonymous "Bella Lugosi" crazy bird stamped on to white snippet using  Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Stampers Anonymous broomstick and hat (from the hard to get hold of .... until now Crazy things set) stamped using Memento tuxedo black and rich cocoa inks
  • Pro Markers to colour before fussy cutting out . .  . with a fiskars finger blade tool I carefully (minding my fingers - if anyone remembers!!!) I cut two slits for the broomstick to slot through "Bella's" wings
  • Yellow circle run through my big shot inside a circle embossing folder before highlighting with Amethyst treasure gold
  • Once I'd decided where I wanted to place my crazy bird I stamped just his legs and bottom of his wings on to the black spotty card using Versamark and then sprinkled with WOW! White puff twinkle embossing powder and heat embossed ... no way black would have shown up!
  • Finally, crystal stickles to highlight and "ground" Bella!!

Who, like me, watched the launch shows of HOCHANDA (the new craft TV channel in the UK? I guess it WAS their first day and everyone was finding their way around ... I look forward to seeing it develop in to something I might want to watch or even buy from - best of luck HOCHANDA.

And now for the Friday Funny, a cartoon stumbled across by my pal, Wynneth, thanks mate!
