Saturday and it's challenge day again - for me!

Morning

Today sees a new CAS challenge over at Simply Less Is More ... I like to enter this challenge as often as I can as it was this blog that introduced me to the whole Clean And Simple style - thanks peeps.


My card

Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of 6 x 4" designer papers, from DCWV, one for matting and one for paper piecing
  • Two pieces of white card, for matting
  • Dina Wakely image stamped using Memento tuxedo black, once on to designer paper an then fussy cut out, for paper piecing
  • Alcohol markers to colour the image not paper pieced
  • The Cats Pyjamas sentiment stamped using Memento rosebud ink

Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • White 110lb white card and black card, for matting
  • Snippet of 110lb white card, gesso'd and coloured using Distress Crayons, fossilised amber, rusty hinge and festive berries
  • Mini Tim Holtz stencils and TCW stencil used with a baby wipe, to knock back colour
  • Black "S" thickness Pitt Pen used to randomly scribble a border around the outer edge of the panel
  • Inkadinkado foliage image and The Cats Pyjamas sentiment stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Stardust stickles used to highlight the image ... on the insert and envelope I substituted the stickles for the Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen

Another weekend on the horizon? Time for the Friday Funny then!

Morning readers and followers

Hope you've had a great weekend and a great weekend imminent!

Need a card for a young male teen very soon, I had made a couple of more masculine cards recently but ... for a teen? I wasn't sure so, when I came across this image I felt I'd cracked it!


My card

Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • Two white card panels and one black card panel, for matting
  • Stampers Anonymous image (from the sideshow set) stamped using Ranger Archival Distress Ink in black soot, including once on to a post it which I then cut out, to use as a mask
  • Inkadinkado grungy circles stamped using Memento sweet plum ink
  • Dylusions circles image stamped using Ranger Archival Distress Ink in tea dye, stamped off once to distress the colour still further
  • DRS Designs splatter image stamped using Hero Arts neon yellow ink to add just a pop of colour

Of course, once I made it I wasn't sure about it so I had another go and then ..guess what? I found I preferred the original - how many times have you done that?

What can I say? I'm weak willed .. it CAN'T be because I need new stash .. and yet .. who can resist such special new stash?


Mini Tim Holtz stencils? Perfect!!! Love those "Sideshow" stamps and the neon ink too
It was the arrow which says "round the bend" which sold me on the Dylusions set!

Answer: There is not enough time to get everything done. 


Question:Why don't retirees mind being called Seniors? 
Answer: The term comes with a 10% discount. 


Question:Among retirees, what is considered formal attire? 
Answer: Tied shoes. 


Question:Why do retirees count pennies? 
Answer: They are the only ones who have the time. 


Question:Why are retirees so slow to clean out the basement, attic or garage? 
Answer: They know that as soon as they do, one of their adult kids will want to store stuff there.



Question:What's the biggest advantage of going back to school as a retiree?
Answer: If you cut classes, no one calls your parents. 



Question:Why does a retiree often say he doesn't miss work, but misses the people he used to work with?
Answer: He is too polite to tell the whole truth.

Answer: Monday through Friday, NOTHING..... Saturday & Sunday, I rest.

Welcome to another What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

Morning,

Been having a lovely couple of days with pleasant weather - YAY! I hear that some parts of the UK have been having SNOW! YIKES! If you are in one of those locations then please take care out there.

Time to share another ATC with you . . . .


Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • White card snippet coloured using a copic marker around the edge, to form a border and then overstamped using a Dylusions harlequin stamp and Memento lilac posies ink
  • White snippet of card gesso'd and, once dry, coloured using Distress Crayons in twisted citron and mustard seed
  • Baby wipe used through Tim Holtz stencils to knock back colour
  • Dylusions letters stamped using Memento lilac posies ink
  • Stampotique image stamped on to snippet of white card using Ranger Archival Distress Ink in black soot, coloured with alcohol markers and then fussy cut out
  • Stamplorations background image stamped using Cats eye ink in sienna
  • Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen - to highlight
  • Stampers Anonymous sentiment stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink

And another one ... I've been using Distress Crayons a lot in the last week or so and thought it was time to revisit an old favourite, Distress INKS!


My ATC 
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippet of 300gsm white card
  • Distress Inks: wild honey, festive berries and dusty concorde applied DTP method giving a geometric and grungey background
  • Dylusions harlequin, circles and letters stamped using Brilliance pearlescent orchid and Memento rosebuds ad lilac posies
  • Stampers Anonymous large circles and sentiment stamped using Ranger Archival Distress Ink in black soot
  • Pitt Pen ("S" thickness) used to doodle a border
  • White Signo uniball gel pen used to doodle highlights along with stardust stickles




And now, since it IS WOYWW I'd like to share my desk with you this week .. I'll be entering this for challenge No. 360 over at WOYWW


And I got woken up again .... this time by the gas jet as this breezed right over our heads!

Monday and the start of another week, peeps - let's make it a good one!

Hope you all had a great weekend .. we went out to dinner yesterday .. we went here




Well, here we areMonday AND  ...  it's also Rudolph Day again! Nothing for it but to make a Christmas card despite the bright sunshine outside!!!!

My card

Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to fit card 
  • One piece of metallic card to mat
  • Inkadinkado cardinal image stamped using Ranger Archival Distress ink - black soot on the image panels, reverse of card and envelope and on to a snippet of card
  • Cardinal image coloured using alcohol markers, the snippet image fussy cut out
  • Distress crackle paint applied to the cut out image and, once dry it was adhered to my card front using dimensional foam pads
  • Tim Holtz stencil used with Ranger collage medium and then liberally sprinkled with glamour dust to give both texture and twinkle
  • Stardust stickles to highlight holly and berries

  5. The Craft Barn -  April 24th challenge - COLOUR CHALLENGE, only RED, WHITE and a little BLACK allowed ... I'm hoping the "smidge" of orange for my cardinal's beak won't disqualify my entry.

Don't forget that today is Rudolph Day over at the Scraps of Life blog - hope you will check out the link and maybe enter the challenge, it will remain open until the end of the month ... as a temporary member of their Design Team I'm not sure I'm allowed to enter this challenge right now.

And then it was on to an ATC ...


Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippet of black card cut to ATC size and adhere to the ATC blank using Tombow glue
  • Snippet of white card cut slightly smaller than the ATC and gesso'd
  • Distress Crayons in picked raspberry and mermaid lagoon applied and blended with a baby wipe moistened finger
  • I then used the baby wipe and two Tim Holtz stencils to knock back some colour
  • A TCW stencil and a piece of cut and dry foam (inked with Ranger Archival jet black ink) to add a little layering to give "texture"
  • Black Pitt pen ("S" thickness) to lightly trace a border around the edge of the coloured panel and a white gel pen used to add a dot border on the black card
  • Stamplorations background image inked with Memento grape jelly and dabbed randomly .... again for added "texture".... you KNEW I couldn't produce something with NO STAMPING, didn't you?!!!

Another lovely Sunday ...

Morning all

Another lovely Sunday here, hope your weekend is going according to plan. 

Having made a masculine card recently and then realised it might be in rather poor taste to send it .. I thought I should have another go - and here it is, Mark II! I am sooooooooooooo loving the Distress Crayons and owe pal, Lauren, a debt of gratitude for "taking one for the team" and acquiring a set so she could review them before I (or any of our crafting group) bought some! Cheers mate!, hope you will approve of the colours I used today.

Materials used:
  • 15cm square white, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 13½cm square
  • Two pieces of black card cut to 14½cm square
  • Snippets: black card and white card for image panel and a snippet of white card for my plane image
  • White gesso, applied to larger white card snippet
  • Distress Craysons: twisted citron, peacock feathers, mermaid lagoon
  • Ranger stencils through which I rubbed a slightly damp baby wipe, to knock back some of the colour
  • Stampers Anonymous World map stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Stampers Anonymous sentiment stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink, on to the larger square of white card
  • Stampers Anonymous "plane" image stamped on to a snippet of white card using Versafine onyx black ink (for a really solid black image) and, once dry, fussy cut out and applied to the image panel using dimensional foam tape

And, whilst I had those Distress Crayons out .... an ATC just kind of happened!

My ATC
Materials Used:
  • ATC blank
  • White card snippet, coated with gesso and allowed to dry
  • Distress Crayons: twisted citron, mermaid lagoon and peacock feathers scribbled and then blended with a moistened finger
  • Using a baby wipe and a couple of stencils by TCW and Stampers Anonymous I knocked back some colour and also ADDED some colour with a Ranger Archival jet black ink pad applied with a piece of cut and dry
  • Dylusions circles image stamped using Brilliance pearlescent blue ink
  • Stampers Anonymous crazy bird stamped twice, once on to my image panel and a second time on to a white card snippet
  • Alcohol markers to colour image which I then fussy cut out (apart from the legs - too small) and affixed directly over the other stamped image
  • Penny Black "foliage" image stamped (to ground the image) using Memento grape jelly ink
  • Stampers Anonymous sentiment stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen and Signo Uniball white gel pen used to add highlights and a Pitt Big Brush pen to outline the ATC

The Crane family swung by again - awww

Saturday mornings usually involve me crafting to Sounds of the Sixties and having a go at as many new challenges as take my fancy .... today's no different

  • 15cm square white, 300gsm, scallop edged card blank and matching sized envelope
  • Snippet of gesso'd white card and a snippet of black card for matting
  • Distress Crayons: picked raspberry and peacock feathers
  • TCW and Tim Holtz stencil and a baby wipe to knock back colour and add "texture"
  • Inkadinkado image stamped using Ranger Archival black soot Distress ink 
  • MSF sentiment stamped using Ranger Archival black soot Distress ink
  • Stardust stickles to add twinkly highlights to the image
